Don't worry - its easy !
The App Screen

The App itself has one main "Red" recording button, which starts or stops the recording. Other options are:
- Switch to Front or Back Camera (the iOS12+ version only)
- Access App Settings / Configuration
- Copy Infinite Loop recordings
Configure the App
From the App, click the gear on the top left corner of the screen. This will take you to the settings of the App. Here you can configure the length & quality of the video recordings, enable infinite loop recording to reduce storage space, configure what is displayed on the screen, select metric/imperial units, enable optional speed warnings, and more.
You can also access the Apps settings outside the App:
- Open Settings on your iPhone
- Scroll down to the "Apps" section
- Scroll down to the "DashCam" App
Video Length & Quality
Depending on your iPhone you can enable up to 4K recording quality with a video duration of 1, 3, 5, 10 or 15 minutes. Test and see what quality & video length works best for you. Select Infinite Loop recording, or the standard Photos (iCloud) recording where the iPhone will manage storage space itself by "offloading" videos to the cloud.
Ultra Wide Lens
The standard lens is the Wide Angle Lens. For iPhones that support an Ultra Wide Lens, you can optionally enable it to have a wider angle of view. This could improve video quality at night.
Parking Sensor
This option will pause recording when there is no more movement. As soon as there is movement recording will continue.
Photos Recording (Cloud)
The standard setting is to save all videos to Photos so it does not require any manual interaction from your end. Depending on how long you want to keep your DashCam recordings, you would occasionally need to clean up. Search in the Photos App on "DashCam" and it will show all the videos, select the videos you want to delete.
Infinite Loop Recording
If you enable infinite loop recording, your videos are saved to a temporary directory and overwritten once the loop has been completed. This requires more storage space than iCloud/Photos recording. For example, if your video length is set to 3 minutes, and the infinite loop buffer to 60 minutes, a total of 20 videos will be maintained in the temporary directory. If you need a copy of these videos, you need to copy them to the Photos App with the Copy button. It works on a First-In-First-Out basis, the oldest video will be overwritten.
G-Sensor
You can also activate the Gravity-Sensor, based on the strength of an acceleration event (bump, accident), the video will be copied to Photos, so you have a backup which will not get overwritten. You can set the sensitivity of the G-Sensor to match your setup.
Privacy Options
You can turn the screen & clock off so you do not get distracted while driving.
Display Options
Show or hide the speed gauge, altitude gauge, compass and GPS coordinates to create your own customised view.
Metric Units
The App will show speed & altitude in metric units as standard (km/h and meters). Switch this off to show miles per hour and feet.
Speed Warnings
You can enable 2 warnings to remind yourself to stay below a certain speed limit. It will be displayed on the screen and, with sounds enabled, as an audio warning.
General Options
- Low Memory Warning: If you frequently run out of memory, enable this option to stop recording and show a warning. Adjust your recording length / quality to match your iPhone.
- LogFormat: This format is used by the macOS App "DashCam Player" to show your position and speed on a map. This data is embedded in the video.
- Record on App Start: Enable this option to start recording automatically when opening the App.
- Warning Sounds: Disable if you do not want to hear warnings or messages.
Music & Siri

To play music in the background while you are recording video with DashCam Recorder, you have to disable access to the microphone. It is not possible to record audio and play audio at the same time. Same for Siri, if you want to use Siri while recording video, disable microphone access.
To disable the microphone click the gear icon on the top left of the screen and under App Settings swith the microphone toggle to "off".Feedback
